The Sound of Music (1965)

I watched this film over the holidays and I think it deserves a quick review.  The film stars Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer.  It is considered a musical but there’s quite a bit of acting in between the singing.  Julie Andrews plays a nun who was sent to live with Christopher Plummer’s family. I believe it was set in Austria right about the time when the Germans were set to invade and take over.  Christopher Plummer has five children and they all endear themselves to Julie Andrew’s character.  Skipping ahead to the end, eventually, the two of them get married and the end of the film revolves around them hatching a plan to escape the grasps of the government so that they can live a happy life rather than being in the clutches of the German regime.  At the end of the film they do escape and they are seen climbing the hill and the credits roll and you have a happy feeling.  The film was well done, it’s considered a classic, and I thought it was good.
