This is a very dark sort of slow-burning thriller. It starred George Clooney who was as what I can only describe as an arms dealer. He is ‘The American’ sent to Italy for a specific job, to build a silencer on top of a rifle and supply it to some mysterious woman. But really, the heart of the movie was Clooney’s relationship with a hooker he fell in love with and who fell in love with him. It’s one of those types of movies that leave you wanting more. It sort of had that “Ronin” feel from the standpoint that it was set in a foreign land and subtitles were used where necessary. It was compelling as I was very engaged in it until the end. Highly recommended.
