The first thing I would like to say about this film is that it has a lot to live up to come close to the original Spider-Man starring Tobey Maguire and Kirstin Dunst. It essentially follows the same formula, high school boy gets bit by a genetically engineered spider and attains superpowers. In this film that part is not executed as well as the original. I understand the plot is following loosely the comic book version, which I have not read. There is a lot more disbelief of reality required to get through this. Emma Stone plays Peter Parker’s love interest and I thought she was properly cast and acted well. I might be biased because I find her to be attractive. Cheesy CGI effects with the villain and spidey. They never explained the Spider-Man tech and the seemingly endless supply of it streaming out of his arms. They did not fully explain why his parents abandoned him. On an up note, Emma Stones dad played by Dennis Leary was great in this film and the dinner scene was my favorite part of this movie. This movie dragged on about 30 minutes too long but was entertaining enough for three stars.
