IPMS Las Vegas Convention 2021
The IPMS (International Plastic Modelers’ Society) convention was held this year in Las Vegas, Nevada. My visit was on 08/19/2021. I had never really heard of the event until my brother saw it on Facebook and thought it might be fun to check out. I was glad we did. These people are extremely well organized and take plastic modeling seriously. Once we arrived, there was this huge convention floor which I was amazed by. It had all the vendors and products. In a way for a beginner like me, it was almost overwhelming.
Little did I know that this was just one of the rooms, there were several other as well. There was an even larger room housing all of the entries that were to be judged and where raffles were being held, giving away models every half hour.
There was another smaller area housing previous winning models were on display.
There was at least one other room that was exclusive to IPMS members only, where small modeling classes were being held, covering many topics including painting tips, etc. I did manage to walk away with a few pick-ups which I discuss in the video below. I haven’t personally built a model since I was a youngster, but the hobby is an interest of mine. Now if I can only find the time to break away from everything else and just get to work on the models!!
