Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995)

I was “pleasant”ly surprised by this film, lol.  Donald Pleasence makes his comeback in what I believe to be the sixth film in the series.  He had noticeably aged in this film, looking pretty frail as compared to the original.  I know now this film was released the same year he passed away.  I always thought he was good in the Halloween films, and I thought he made a very good “Blofeld“, the main Bond Villan in the James Bond films.

A very young Paul Rudd was also one of the main stars of this film.  Unlike the previous Halloween film, this one sort of returned to the basics of what made the original so good.  It had Michael Myers, was set back in Haddonfield. It had the creepy Halloween music, and Donald Pleasence was in it.  Would this be enough to make this thing watchable? In a word “Yes”.  The film exceeded my expectations which were extremely low.  I thought Rudd’s role made the film much better.  Finally, there is a normal man in the film instead of concentrating on lowly scared chicks.   The plot of the film was fairly ridiculous, involving a baby as the main target of Myers.   Michael Myers, would, no matter how much of a head start you had, always appear right around the next corner.  I think this is the first film where you actually see him walking really fast, almost running.  Normally he slow walks until he gets his target.

I did find this one entertaining.
