This film marks the return of Michael Myers, who went away for a spell while they made Halloween III, without him and without the heart of the franchise. It also marked the return of Donald Pleasence who plays Dr. Sam Loomis. His return is a surprise since he most certainly would have died at the end of Halloween II in the gas bomb suicide attempt (with a burn mark on his face, some recovery) Obviously he couldn’t get the job done for if he did, the series would be over. I think that’s what the writers had originally intended. Considering this film I believe having it end after two would have been just fine.
This film picks up on Halloween, ten years after Halloween II. This time Michael Myers must have given up on Jamie Lee Curtis because now he is after his young niece. Maybe I just don’t have him figured out. Maybe his targets are always kids having to live up to the original boogeyman moniker.
Anyhow this film was pretty ridiculous. It ends with Michael Myers being shot at a hundred times and falling into a grave. Following this incident, the cute little 6-year-old niece ends up killing a teenager while wearing a scary mask. We see the doctor yelling “nooooo”. Give me a break.
