First off, I recently purchased a four-pack of Dirty Harry films from Best Buy over the holidays. They are digitally remastered in Blu Ray and one thing I love about them is when you put them in the movie it starts right away, no advertising, no FBI warnings no DRM, the way it should be done with all films you purchase. This is the first of four reviews. I believe I have watched this film at least half a dozen times over the years, at least parts and pieces. At the time of this film’s release, I was a two-year-old. It of course stars Clint Eastwood as a police inspector assigned to the case of tracking down a serial sniper killer. The Villan is holding the City of San Francisco hostage and is demanding a whopping $100,000 fee or someone will die each day. The film has the classic 70’s feel, especially when noticing the vehicles and the running soundtrack. This is the film that contains the famous quote about the 44 magnum being the most powerful handgun in the world and whether or not he fired 5 or 6 bullets. What I found interesting about this on rewatch was I found out he used the exact quote twice in the film, one in the beginning, following a bank robbery, and once near the end of the film. Harry, is a sort of bad ass, do it my way type of dude, which is part of the reason for the draw to the film for me.
