Atgames Atari Paddles VS the OG paddles from 1977

Atgames Atari Paddles VS the OG paddles from 1977

I recently picked up these paddles from Atgames. I love that we still have the option, 40 years after the launch of the original Atari VCS.

I own a few sets of the old paddles and some of them still play fairly good, but not great, which is why I decided to pull the trigger on these. The website states these controllers are compatible with the Atari Flashback 4,5,6, and 7 consoles. However they are also compatible with the original Atari consoles, the VCS/2600. The way the paddle controller are designed, there are two paddles wired to one connector, allowing you to purchase another set which would enable four player gameplay.

This is great especially for games like Warlords or breakout. I picked up these paddles for $19.00 which to me sounded like a good price. Now they are currently listed on Atgames website for $29.99 which seems a bit steep.

So far I have tested them out by playing Circus Atari, Kaboom, and breakout And they have been in my opinion, solid, and handle nice and smooth, with none of that awkward jerkiness. There’s not a whole lot more to say about them, other than they are a great option to replace those old aging original Atari paddles and they play great on most of the flashback systems starting with the Flashback 4.

Again, they can be purchased from atgames.com right now for $29.99
