This was the original classic horror flick from 1978. It starred a young Jamie Lee Curtis in her first role as an actress. I picked it up on AMC fear fest week marathon. I plan on watching parts one through five. I think part of what makes this film so iconic is the music. It is very scary and helps to add greatly to the suspense. For being filmed in 1978 I really believe they did a great good job of making this film scary. The story goes something like this. The main bad guy in this film, Michael Myers, is very young at the beginning of this film, about six years old when he goes and kills his sister. He is then institutionalized for 20 or so years before he breaks out and goes on a killing rampage. He stalks young teenage girls usually babysitters sometimes teenagers that are having sex. At the end of this movie after trying to kill Jamie Lee Curtis she ends up getting away. Michael Myers is shot several times, stabbed, and poked but it’s clear he’s not dead. The credits then roll, and the music starts to play and you know that this isn’t over, part two is coming.
Michael Myers is the boogie man, the boogie man who never dies. It’s the beginning of a new genre of horror that many other films copy but none quite so eloquently.
I very much enjoyed my rewatch of this film and I would highly recommend this to any horror film buffs.
