After having just watched “2 Days in New York”, then “After Midnight”, I finally caught up with this film. I of course now know this was completely out of order. I think it might have been easier to follow if it was called Julie Delpy part one, part two, then part three. Of course, this would be an oversimplification and would not sell movie tickets. “2 Days in Paris”, is the first film in the series, and was Julie Delpy’s directorial debut. It also starred Adam Goldberg as her boyfriend. I didn’t realize this until this film, her mother and father are played by her actual mother and father in real life, “…mind blown…”. Her father in particular is very likable and funny, in all three films.
The acting in this film was terrific. I had my doubts about Adam Goldberg when the film started, but these were erased very quickly as the film progressed. It was quite entertaining with Adam being frustrated by the French language. At the same time, it was trying to be a romantic film. It was mostly about these two days of their relationship, and why it eventually fails in the end. It was more of a comedy than a romance and I found it highly entertaining.
