I was not incredibly impressed with the movie adaptation of the book, by the same name. I guess a movie is only as good as its writing. This film stars Matt Damon as Mark Watney, the astronaut that is left behind on Mars after a severe dust storm. That in and of itself requires some serious suspension of disbelief. I mean I have a really hard time believing a crew would abandon a fellow astronaut dead or alive. Once you get past that, you have to believe that Matt Damon can survive for four years eating potatoes. Once you get past that you have to believe he can rocket himself up out of the atmosphere and be successfully rescued by returning crew. Well really, the way the story is told it’s not all that hard to believe and it makes for an interesting tale. In fact, I hear this film is huge in South Korea for some reason.
