Children of the Corn (1984)

I really liked this movie.  It’s not the type of film that would really stand up in today’s times. All the two main characters would have needed was a cellphone and they could have had dozen of police in riot gear show up, movie over.  The real stars of the film for me were the kids, especially the particularly crazy demented kid Isaac who was played by John Franklin.  I don’t know if it was the makeup or just the things he was saying, but he looked like an old creepy kid and played the part perfectly.
At first, I thought this was a film about a religious cult similar to the Davidians, however late in the film it is revealed there is an evil being lurking beneath the cornfields that were apparently influencing the kids and must be destroyed.  But dare I ask how do you destroy such a being?  Why just pour a bunch of gasoline all over the entire cornfield and light it up, that’s how.  That’s what they did and high-tailed it out of there with a couple of kids in tow.  The blood effects were cheesy, and the main parts could have been played by anyone.  It was, however, a pretty entertaining tale.  I cannot wait for part two, they wouldn’t dare make a part two, would they?
