Prisoners

I went to the theatre to watch this film, pretty much blindly.  I had watched the trailer a few months earlier but did not remember much about it.  It starred Jake Gyllenhaal, Hugh Jackman, and Terrance Howard.  It was set somewhere in the middle of the US during thanksgiving.  Terrance and Hughs families were having dinner together.  During the celebration, they misplaced their very young daughters.  Turns out, they were abducted.  That’s where Jake comes in.  He was playing the part of a police detective assigned to the case.  Before they disappeared, they were seen playing near an RV owned by Paul Danno.  Paul’s was playing the part of someone that never developed past the point of a 10-year-old.  He is the primary suspect.  Unfortunately, due to a lack of evidence, the police can only hold him for two days.  That’s where Hugh Jackman comes in, taking the law into his own hands.  He ends up kidnapping Paul Dannos character and tries to beat a confession out of him.

Hugh Jackmans performance was the best part of the film.  He made me a believer.
