This was the true story of the famous porn star “Linda Lovelace”. Her part was played by Amanda Seyfried. She was certainly beautiful and played the part very well. Her abusive husband was played by Peter Sarsgaard. He also did a pretty good job in his portrayal. The part of Hugh Heffner was played by James Franco in a fairly limited role.
The film did what it had to do within the available timeframe which was about 90 minutes. It told the rather depressing tale of an abused woman forced into porn and prostitution by her husband. Being that it was based on a true story, it gets interesting toward the end of the film when she finally mustered up the courage to leave her abusive husband and start over with a new husband and life. She wrote a book that detailed her life and went on to live a fairly normal life after her first divorce. When the credits rolled there were some interesting facts presented including how she only earned $1200 for her role in “deep throat” even though it grossed something like half a billion dollars worldwide. I would only recommend this to people interested in her story but it did hold my attention. With a little bit of editing, this could have been a lifetime movie.
