Robot and Frank

I was interested in this film simply because it had a robot in it and I wanted to see the futuristic tech.  It starred Frank Langella as a pre-Alzheimer’s or dementia patient who was living at home and needed help around the house.  His son purchased a robot for him.  He soon exploited a bug in the robot’s software, finding out it would help him with his burglary attempts.  He was a career criminal. What I found interesting was the robot itself seemed to me like a definite possibility.  Sure in today’s tech we still have a long way to go, but even now we have a lot of the separate pieces working, just not all together in one small package.  The most difficult part if this robot tech is its brain, which seemed to perfectly understand everything it was being asked.  You do have to suspend your disbelief with regards to the lack of any sort of morality programming, allowing it to be used for illegal activities.  But this was easily disregarded.  They pieced together a pretty good story which I enjoyed following until the end.
