I had been meaning to check out this film since it was released and to finish compiling my top films of 2013. This one did not make it on my list, but not for a lack of trying. It had a whole slew of stars including Seth Rogan, Jonah Hill, and James Franco. This was a different sort of film, where the actors played themselves and were all partying at James Franco’s place. This was a star-studded affair. Suddenly the rapture begins…and all hell breaks loose. I think I was most surprised by the performance of James Franco. I had always thought of him as more of a serious actor. He proves in this film to be very funny along with all the other actors. Don’t get me wrong, this film was very vulgar, included some violent scenes. The positive humor overcame these shortcomings.

I really thought the ending was going to include some sort of dream sequence where one of the guys wakes up and it was all a dream. I guess that would have been too cliche. Instead, it ended in heaven with the Backstreet Boys and singing a song and making a video. It was hilarious and was a feel-good ending to a silly film that doesn’t take itself too seriously.
