I watched this movie on Showtime. It follows the careers of a couple of up-and-coming MMA artists that are hoping to make it someday into UFC. They are at this point in somewhat of the minor leagues During the documentary they mentioned that for one of the fights they were going to make 500 dollars to show and 500 dollars to win. It was kind of shocking. I didn’t know that after days and weeks of tough workouts that they would be paid so poorly. By the end of this film, they only followed one fighter named Dustin. It was a little bit disappointing in that they didn’t show the entire fights, instead, they showed mostly snippets but we got the point. Also, there was a build-up of how much one of the fights was going to cost the promoter and he said they needed at least 5000 people to show up, but we never got the final count, the point was made.
I would say this film appeals mainly to MMA fans or fans of Dustin, the fighter they spotlighted. Having met those criteria, I still would not recommend it. Don’t get me wrong I love watching MMA fights and I frequently watch the ‘Ultimate Fighter’.
